Regional Conferences
According to the Constitution of Phi Delta Chi, Regional Conferences are to be held in each year that Grand Council is not in session. Currently Regional Conferences are held in the spring of even-numbered years. Regional Conferences provide an inexpensive opportunity for Phi Delta Chi Brothers to attend a nearby conclave of multiple Phi Delta Chi Chapters. One could call the Regional Conference "A Taste of Phi Delta Chi," as Brothers are given the opportunity to sample the offerings of Phi Delta Chi as a national organization, including leadership training, officer training, and brotherhood. Regional and national fraternity business is also conducted during this weekend program. Attendees have an opportunity to recommend and review proposed changes in regional or Phi Delta Chi policy or the Constitution of Phi Delta Chi. Additionally, the next Regional Correspondent is elected during the Regional Conference.
Regional Conference sites are rotated in alphabetic order by Greek name (tentative year to host the Regional Conference). No Chapter is obligated to host a Regional Conference, but nearly all welcome its arrival.

Southeast Regional Conference
Several Phi Delta Chi Chapters including Beta Lambda are located in the Southeast Region of the United States.
2016 Southeast Regional Conference - Oxford, Mississippi
From March 4-6, there were 5 Beta Lambda Brothers who attended the Phi Delta Chi Southeast Regional Conference (SERC) that was hosted by the Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Oxford, Mississippi at the University of Mississippi - Ole Miss. On the first day of SERC, March 4, the Phi Delta Chi Chapters of the Southeast Region went to Premier Lanes Entertainment to enjoy a game of bowling while mingling with Brothers from other Chapters.
On the second day of SERC, March 5, Brothers from the Southeast Chapters were assigned and attended committee meetings to talk about any new ideas that can be implemented at future Phi Delta Chi conferences. Brothers were also assigned 2 different workshops to participate in to learn what other Chapters do in terms of the events that they hold and bring back new ideas that could possible be implemented in their respective Chapters. After the workshops, each Chapter was interviewed by the Southeast Regional Correspondent and the Grand Vice President for Collegiate Affairs about the strengths and weaknesses of the Chapter and how the Regional and National officers can offer their assistance to the Chapter. After all the Southeast Chapters finished their interviews, Brothers attended a Banquet and had a chance to experience Brotherhood while going out to The Square at Oxford, MS. |
On March 6, the last day of SERC, a Formal meeting and business session was held to vote on the next Southeast Regional Correspondent. After the meeting and business session, Brothers returned to their respective Chapters.
The next SERC will be held at Athens, Georgia and will be hosted by the Alpha Iota Chapter (University of Georgia) in 2018. |
